The first digital painting study done and is completed as the first portrait ever created..

Created a digital painting study about skin tone with references from a picture of Kim Tae Hee. It is now completed and would like to create more painting so that a "Portrait" gallery will be added on portfolio. Here is the completed illustration:

When looking at the reference, there is some sort of doubt if it is really Kim Tae Hee, but it is a search result from google, save it on desktop last year, the source link was forgotten.

Digital painting study 17 is done...

Just completed the study for this one, it took more than 3 hours of painting...

Children under the big old tree...

It was quiet a long week end vacation, after doing things inside the house, find a way to watch the fight between Velasquez and Bigfoot Silva. It was a good match as well as the other matches of UFC 160. At the other side, the Grizzles lost at their home court, they fought well which led to OT but they couldn't match the Spurs' intensity after that.

There are plenty of line art inside an old folder, thought of coloring one of them and here it is...

Aside from that, here are some arranged line art from a previous project, set 1 is here:

Set 2:

Maybe it's good to color more of these to update the portfolio, really need to have a freelance project since sources are quiet tight, plenty of expenses needed to be fix. Was planning to own the house offered by my mother's friend. The house was good, it's simple but fine. It was the kind of goal being planned to be achieved this coming 2016, but it came now, earlier and it would be better to take chances on this one, hahaha. But how? Hahaha...

Underwater illustrations for kids...

Was so happy to receive this work load where illustrations underwater are needed and the characters are sea turtles. Experimented a new method in coloring while maintaining the solid formation of the backgrounds with the emphasis of making the characters stand out. Here is the cover:

See it at scribe: http://www.scribd.com/doc/136425341/THE-TALE-OF-TIM-THE-TURTLE

Personal nickname and website history...

It started way back in high school, used to play counter-strike with classmates and created names for fun. The first nick name was "YnneK", it was a strange name that was created by reversing the first name and it was followed by "Head Works", a name created because during game time, play mates get nailed with a sniper on the head, hahaha! In college it became more formal, started to learn programming and web design and created a more simple name, the name was "Nekworks", it was a name based on the word networks where a group of PC is connected with one another. It was quite frustrating since only few was interested to focus on the course and learn from it and at the end, it was like none of them learned it deeply and used it after graduation. Here is a logo of it:

There was a website created with this logo for a project within the course, but it was deleted a long ago (http://www.nekworks.110mb.com) a long with a blog (http://kennyestrella.blogspot.com/). Another website for a project was also created (http://computerscienceworks.110mb.com/index.html).

After graduation it became quite serious and decided to create a portfolio to apply for jobs in web design. The website was designed like this, and looking at it really makes a smile since it was old and the layout was kind of basic. Here is an image:

The portfolio was a big help and was accepted for a web and mobile app development company but did not stayed for long since colleagues also resigned one by one because of stressful work flow. It was the first time that there are people who really are experts within the course and all of them are far better and has wider experience.

The next job was also related to design, the only difference is it is mostly illustration design. It was the period to realize that art is an amazing course and see many artists that are good. There are also references from professionals within this fields who inspires most and they are working in gaming, concept/character design, films and etc. industry. They have well organized portfolio that inspires to create a more structured portfolio website. The website was the first formal version and the logo created was "Kenworks", here is the version 1.0:

Later, re-design process was made and version 2.0 of kenworks was created:

The version was realized to be more complicated because of the plan of integrating it with opencart system and wordpress, haha! It was like dreaming hard when the resources are less. One big problem is that the name cannot be used since there was a company with that name:

Kenworks Inc.
Kenworks NZ

It was decided that the name should be different and doesn't have a similar or the same name when you google it, haha. Since the portfolio content will be all the works done, starting from graphic/web design down to illustration and digital painting, it was realized to compressed them as one and the name "Kenoneworks" emerged and this will be used for the website. Here is the version 1.0:

Some changes are made, 1.0.1:

Currently, another re-design is in progress as well as restructuring the code, because there are problems and errors in loading the pages where AJAX is used to load them. To negate that problem, the possible solution will be using AJAX once and not twice so that it will not cause any conflict on the pages loaded currently and to the default page. To do this there are pages that will be affected such as the "Contact" page, the form on this page will not run correctly when this page is loaded using AJAX, this will be possibly changed in to a much simpler page without the forms.

Those things needed to be changed were only parts of the overall development, "Web end" to be termed, on the "Portfolio build up end", sample digital painting for portraits and characters should be added to make a more solid set of gallery. There's so much work to do to get possible good clients for the future.

The third painting starting with black and white process...

It is really effective to start with black and white process, it is easy to concentrate on the light areas and the dark areas of the composition. It's also a habit to put details in every concept and this one shows some detailing with references from Dan Warren's artwork.

Digital painting studies 17 - Daiana Menezes...

It's Saturday and it took quiet a while to sleep, started some snack then browse the net and saw some images of Daiana. She's on TV always on Eat Bulaga and her skin tone and her beauty is good object to start a digital painting study LOL!

The theory that emerges from several practices was called "Paletting", it's still needs to be tested since there are lapses on this technique depending on the concept that needs to be done and so, "Paletting05" is defined as another class that needs to be tested.

Here are some screenshots, hope to make this done today.

Applying again for a freelance project...

Started doing elance for last December 2012 and was awarded by 4 jobs at January 2013. It was a good experience and a tiresome one since sleeping is limited, usually have 3 hours of minimum nap and it affects the full time job but somehow, manage to get the hang out of it.

The problem was about time management and rest since in January 2013 there are 3 clients that offered the job and it was accepted right away. Those project was for children's book and illustration of characters and scenes were needed. All of those 3 books would sum up about no more than 77 illustrations and 1 book has plenty of characters, it was about a book about children in a classroom. Couldn't manage to do those 3 jobs at the same time and as a result those projects were not done completely and was only paid for the things that was initially completed. It ended last month of April and it realized that it would be good to to 1 project at a time so that it will be completed and finished right at schedule. After that, one client gave a feedback last March, it was really embarrassing and decided to stop elance for that time and deactivate the account.

Now, decided to go back and do projects 1 at a time. Here are sample illustrations for a certain project. The first one was the kind of cartoon to proposed for the project but then after seeing a strong competitor's work, decided to do more but it was not yet completed.
